Food, I think about it all day and night.  It is my passion.

I started this blog to show my family and friends that they too can make decent food, without much trouble, that does not come from some nasty factory. I make real food for real people that is not fussy or takes days to make (sometimes).

I am not a dietitian or trained chef, but I do help local families with meal planning.  I also help those who have just been diagnosed with something that requires dietary restrictions.  It is not the end of the world, even though it feels like it at first.  I’ve been there and I have some tools to share that can help.

We also have found that the problems plaguing myself and one of my boys is due to food sensitivities and voodoo.  What a bunch of hogwash, however when we cut those items out of our daily life things have improved or completely disappeared.  Mostly we were plagued with unsightly and uncomfortable skin rashes. I thought I must have leprosy or maybe a flesh eating disease, no it is the bread, butter, eggs, etc that we eat on a daily basis, not to mention the beer.  yikes.

The sensitivities that showed up for the boy were: cow’s milk, bakers & brewers yeasts, kidney & pinto beans, and haddock (which he has never had in his life).  For myself the violators include: cow’s milk, chicken eggs, bakers & brewers yeasts, radishes, canola, and wheat.  When we first got the results we were dumbfounded, esp my German husband. What else is there to eat? It is funny now, but at the time it was devastating.  If we have been good we can still eat these offenders in moderation maybe once a week or less.  Eating out is the biggest hassle, traveling with sensitive people is the biggest hassle for my husband and our other child.  I feel sorry for them, but only a little.

Kristen,

Thanks so much for having me over. You’re an amazing cook! Everything was really wonderful.

All on what I can only imagine was no notice.

Enjoyed meeting in person the “tamer of Normann Fischer.” He’s a dear friend (don’t tell him that), and at work we see and let him roar. Nice to see him purr and be put his kitty travel box at home.

Thanks again!!!!!

You know that kissing up to me probably isn’t going to change that kitty’s behavior, right?

I am sorry if you got the wrong impression of me. Really I’m meek, mild tempered and well behaved. I always do what I’m told.

Did I mention that I was a compulsive liar?

Thanks for the praise tho, I will take what I can get. It takes real talent and finesse to open the plastic on the smoked salmon. Something you can only get from years of practice.
