I am so taken aback by the outpouring of supporting emails, phone calls, comments of facebook, DMs on twitter, comments on the blog (even the ones that I refused to publish to keep you from being retaliated against). I had no idea that that many of you cared. My whole family is deeply touched by your support. I thought that I was going to piss off some of my readers with all this non food stuff and my subscribers would have bailed. I am honored by all my new subscribers. It is fantastic
The word is out. They are now threatening me, big of them, they are now recoiling like the serpents they are. If someone is seeking the truth they will find it.
Do you like marinated things? I do.

I guess I should have been more cowardly about it, like they are, and have gone directly to the police.
The truth is that it always has a way of coming out in the end. The unfortunate thing will be if other children harmed and don’t come forward because of fear. Just remember that there are two sides to every story. Maybe you should have the whole story before passing judgment.
Only one adult at the school said goodbye to Dre. His teacher and class aide did not even talk to him. I cannot believe how you can betray a child’s trust like that. You know who you are, shame on you, Dre believed in you and you did not even stick up for him. You crushed him.
Marinated Feta
this is not a recipe but a collection of deliciousness mingled together into a yummy stew that you can pull out of the fridge at a moment’s notice for a little snack or to woo your friends.
This is the things I used, mix it up and make it your own
- 1 block feta cheese, I like Pastures of Eden sheep’s milk feta, it is light, fragrant and reminds me of Fairview or Simonsberg from our days in South Africa
- hearty herbs, like rosemary, thyme
- zest or strips of a lemon peel, or other citrus
- a collection of spices, I used cracked pink peppercorns, green peppercorns, coriander seed
- a good extra virgin olive oil, it is not cooked so use a good fruity one
find a suitable container for storage, I like glass. Pile the cubed cheese into a super clean jar, cram in the herbs and spices, cover with olive oil. It is fine to eat straight away, but will get better with time. Lasts 2-3 weeks I would guess, we have never had it last more than a few days with the active nibblers in our house and the many impromptu parties. Make sure that the cheese is covered with the oil, this will keep it airtight and prevent spoilage.
serve with flatbread, crackers, crustini, olives, cured meats and other cheeses. a fine addition to any cheese board, or straight from the fridge for a little snack.

The fact that they feel the need to threaten you for telling the truth is more telling than anything else. To treat a child like that is unconscionable, especially from the people we trust to care for and educate our children.
They should be ashamed of themselves. They call themselves “Christians” but don’t practice the basic tenets of Christianity. Boo…hiss…
Amai,..they are feeling allready treatened! Ha!
How could they do that to your lovely son! They are so called Christians!
Your marinated feta is a good & lovely recipe! Thanks, my friend! Hang in there! Hugs from Brussels!
It is troubling that they ostracize instead of dealing with it. The priest did not even make an attempt to contact us.
Interesting that the children’s religious advisers would just kick them out of their religious community if they did not have something they were trying to hide.
Thanks Sophie for the long distance hugs!
Blargh. That’s all I have to say about that. Not the feta, the feta looks delicious and I will be making it sometime very very soon. I mean the school nonsense. I’m just getting caught up on all of it, holy heck woman. I’m sending you a virtual hug. You go girl!
oh, I so love marineted feta on almost everything, and when I can’t find feta I use fresh chevre.
gorgeous.
Finally made the marinated feta today. Yum. I had to hide it from myself to stop eating it.
That is hilarious! Don’t forget where you hid it, I spent the entire day looking for something important that I put in a *special* hiding place. Too bad it wasn’t cheese, as I am sure that would give itself up!
I hate when I do that. I’m doomed whenever I put something away for safe keeping. But the cheese… somehow I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to find that again tomorrow
