young onions, so many uses, these babies will be gone fast
Fava Beans, this is the first time this year and the first time ever receiving them from the CSA, I am so excited. I cannot decide if I want to blanch slightly then saute with a little garlic or onion from above or grill on the barbecue… too many choices. Be sure to shell before eating, the pod is very fibrous.
These carrots are for eating, sorry grandma these won’t be boiled for an hour.
crunch, crunch, crunch!
Beet it! Beet it!
In honor of the King of Pop, I suppose, only one lonely beet this week. I think I may just steam it with the greens on and a little butter, mmm. (I know I cannot have butter, but maybe just a little, you know, in memory of the King of Pop.
greens, greens, the… oh no, that is the song for beans. No song for greens? These greens have yet to know their fate, but it is sure to be delicious.
Big Bag ‘o Salad Greens. We love salad around here, don’t know if I mentioned it before but salad must be on the table every day. It is part of the contractual agreement between me and my husband. I MUST supply salad for dinner every night or he does it himself at the table. That won’t be a problem, except he gets carried, let’s just say it is better if I just make it.
These teeny cherries were a super surprise!!! Wow, I’m thinking clafoutis or maybe the financiers from The Cooking Photographer
update: I made the clafoutis, still enough for the financiers, but it is now too hot to use the oven. Heat wave.
ENJOY!

Ohhhhh thank you for the mojito recipe! I just bought mint the other day and smelling it makes me crave a mojito! It also makes me miss the Yakima Valley mint fields..Ahhh..summer..
Sara, Mojitos all the way. They taste just as good in San Diego as they do in the Yakima Valley, actually probably better & the scenery is better too
i had one beet last week and just peeled it with my cutco peeler in our salad. raw on green salad was good, i was pleasantly surprised. the boys liked taste testing against carrot and it turned our ranch dressing an unappetizing pepto color, they loved that!
